# Add Census Period

These instructions assume you've already [added the Academic Term](https://docs.silverband.com.au/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/system-configuration/workflows/time-periods/add-academic-term) for the Census Period.

1. Navigate to **System** > **Edit Time Period** menus on the side.
2. Set the **Type** to **Census Period** and click the **SEARCH TIME PERIODS** button.

3. Click the **From** column to sort the Census Period dates in descending order. Thoroughly review the results for any duplicates of the Census Period you intend to add.

4. If no duplicates are detected, proceed by clicking the **ADD TIME PERIOD** button or by clicking the **EDIT** button against the previous Census Period record, e.g. editing the Term 1 2024 Census Period record to add the 2025 Term 1.

5. Complete the mandatory fields, and for guidance and consistency, refer to your existing Census Period items when filling out the form. **NOTE**: Set the **Parent** field to the Academic Term where the Census Period belongs.

6. Click the **SAVE TIME PERIOD** button to save.
