The above diagram talks about the following records in the system: Provider, Person (Contact and Student), Base Course, Base Unit, Course Enrolment, and Scheduled Unit. All the other records except the Provider record relate to a Provider record. The Provider record defines where the course is delivered, where a student is engaged to study, where a unit is offered and in a specific time period.

The above diagram also emphasises how a HE Provider relates to person records (students and contacts) in the system.

Let's take a look at the basics of a Provider record in Paradigm.

Provider

Describes the organisations that have relationships with people reflecting some form of service they provide in an education context.

Paradigm Context

A Provider record in the system has the following types of information: Provider TCSI UID - if a government reporting Provider record, address (suburb, postcode, state, country,), etc. and all other information that would uniquely define a Provider record in the system.

A Provider record in Paradigm can be assigned roles to relate to other records in the system. The two main provider roles in relation to the student's course and unit enrolments are:

  • Educational Program Provider - associated with course enrolment records (i.e. the campus)

  • Educational Unit Provider - associated with base units and scheduled units (i.e. the campus)
