Session 1: Introduction to Paradigm

Overview

In this training session, we will provide an overview of Paradigm, including an introduction to the Paradigm User Interface, a summary of supported government reporting standards, and instructions on creating new staff user accounts. By the end of this training session, you will have sufficient knowledge to take responsibility for creating contact records, including maintaining user login credentials.

  • Understand how different record types are related to each other;

  • Become familiar with the Paradigm User Interface;

  • Know how to create and maintain a contact record; and

  • Understand the various government reporting standards supported by Paradigm.

1. Introduction

Duration: 20 minutes

Complexity: Medium

In the introduction, we will cover the terminology being used in Paradigm, explain the data relationships featured within Paradigm, and how different record types are related to each other, such as students, providers, courses, and units. We will also cover a number of methods for you to reach out for help should you require it.

2. Government Reporting and Contact Records

Duration: 30 minutes

Complexity: Medium

This section includes an outline of the government reporting standards supported by Paradigm and how this impacts data entry practices when using Paradigm. Additionally, we will also demonstrate the workflows on how to create and maintain contact records, including assigning appropriate permission levels to each contact account.

3. Review

Duration: 10 minutes

4. Extension

Duration: 20 minutes

The following tasks are recommended for users to complete at the conclusion of each training session to ensure that the content is understood and to establish familiarity with Paradigm terminology and its user interface.

Any records created during this section may be raised for review at the beginning of the next session to ensure that the data has been entered correctly, for example, meeting the relevant government reporting standard.

Tasks:

  • Create a new staff user account

  • Assign a permission group to the newly created staff user account
