Terminology

Below is an alphabetically sorted list of terms used within the Rapla application or the Rapla knowledge base

Appointment

Refers to the specified days and the number of occurrences an event is to take place. An event in Rapla can have multiple appointments with the same or with a different number of occurrences.

Configuration Folder

Can be used interchangeably with the side menus. Rapla has six configuration folders found on the left side of its interface namely Resources, Users, Event Type, Categories, Periods, and Conflicts.

Conflict

A conflict in the allocation of resources. Rapla manages resources by tracking the events that use each resource added and notifying of possible conflicts if detected.

Event

An event in Rapla can be used interchangeably with a session. There are four event types that can be created, however, only the Paradigm Session type is designed to be synchronisable to Paradigm that relates to the Scheduled Units session.

Exception

Recurring events in Rapla can have days within its time frame that are excepted due to several reasons, e.g. it falls on a holiday. An option to add exceptions on those days is available in Rapla.

Filter

Main Calendar View

The space in Rapla where all the events are created and displayed.

Paradigm Session

A type of event in Rapla that is synchronisable to Paradigm as it contains the details of the sessions of the Scheduled Unit record in Paradigm.

Resource

Resource refers to a facility, a piece of equipment, and staff in your business or institution that you can manage to avoid conflicts when allocated to each event or session.

Session

All events created in Rapla with the Paradigm Session event type can be referred to as sessions.

Time Period

Time Period in Rapla will not only help you organise the view of all events that you have created but also plays a role in the synchronisation. Time Periods set in Rapla should be the same or within the start and end dates coding in Paradigm.
