Copy Outline Rules between Base Courses

This page will provide the instructions on how you can copy outline rules between Base Courses.

Overview

If you have existing Course Outlines with almost or exactly the same scheduled units and outline rules as the Course Outline that you are about to make, then this Paradigm feature will address that concern, saving you time to create Course Outlines from scratch. The workflow below will guide you on how to copy the outline rules you’ve set from your previous courses and copy them to your newly offered or other courses in the system. It is highly advised that you will still do due diligence – making sure that all the scheduled units and rules apply to your newly created Course Outline.

Workflow

Step 1: Load the Base Course Record with the Outline Rules that you want to copy.

In the example below, we want to copy the outline rules from your BAAcc (Bachelor of Accounting) course to the newly offered course which is the BBis (Bachelor of Business). In this case, we will load the BAAcc (Bachelor of Accounting) course.

1. Choose Course > Search menus on the side.

2. Enter one or all of the following search criteria: Course Id, Course Name, Course Level, and Course Status.

3. Click the SEARCH COURSE button. This will return a list of courses that meet your searched criteria (if the name and Id are not entered exactly the same as what has been recorded in Paradigm).

1. If the return list needs more filters (given that you have a lot of course records in Paradigm) for you to get to the course record that you want to copy, you have the option to type a part of the course name in the Filter Box, this will reduce the number of results.

1. Once you’ve found the course record that you want to copy the outline to, choose Courses > Outline menus on the side. This will open the COURSE OUTLINE page.

1. Select all the applicable rules or scheduled units from that course that you want to copy, and check the top-most checkbox ☑ if you want to copy all (as shown in the screenshot above)

2. After selecting the outline rules that you want to copy, scroll down and click the Copy Selected Constraints to the following Course dropdown menu. Select the course where you want the outline rules to be copied. e.g. you want to copy the outline rules from your BAAcc (Bachelor of Accounting) course to your newly offered course which is the BBis (Bachelor of Business). In this case, BBis (Bachelor of Business) is selected.

With the Course where the outline rules are to be copied selected, click the COPY SELECTED CONSTRAINTS button.

A SUCCESS message will appear on top of the page, notifying you of the status of your action.

Step 2: Load the Course record where the course outlines are copied.

Following the same scenario as above, we’ll load the BBis (Bachelor of Business) course.

Check if the outline rules are now copied to the Base Course (e.g. BBis) that you want them copied. Follow the same instructions as above on how to search and load the COURSE OUTLINE page of a Base Course record.

SUCCESS:

In the above screenshot, the BBis Course has now all the outline rules that were copied from the BAAcc Course. You can now review, check, verify, edit, add more constraints, and delete constraints – as you see fit for this Course Record.
