Add a Course Fee Unit Type

Overview

A Course Fee Unit Type allows you to create units that do not follow the normal Unit Enrolment time periods but the Course dates instead. You can use these units to create a Course Fee Plan, and charge additional course fee items on top of the total Course Fee, see Add Other Unit Type. A Course Fee Unit can also be created as Unit Enrolments that are flexible when it comes to the study time period dates.

NOTE:

Course Fee units are not TCSI-reportable. To create one, you have to make sure that the Unit Provider field is not set to a TCSI-reporting Provider, see How to make a Provider Record non-TCSI reporting

Workflow

Step (1) Create a Base Unit record

NOTE:

Prior to proceeding, search for an existing base course record with a Unit Id of COURSE_FEE in the system. If found, use it for scheduling and proceed directly to Step 2.

  1. Create a Base Unit record, see Add Base Units. Refer to the following notable fields when creating a Base Course Fee unit:

    • Unit Provider - do not set a Provider record or set a Non-TCSI reporting provider record if you need to, see How to make a Provider Record non-TCSI reporting

    • Credit Point Statement - you can set this to 0

    • Unit Type - set this to Course Fee

    • Unit Status - set this to Active

  2. After filling out the required fields as suggested above, click the SAVE UNIT button.

  3. Repeat the same steps for all the other units that you want to be categorised as a Course Fee type unit

Step (2) Schedule the Course Fee Type Units

  1. After creating the Base Unit records of your Course Fee type units, you can now schedule them accordingly, see Add Scheduled Units. Refer to the following notable fields when scheduling a Course Fee unit:

  2. After filling out the Scheduled Unit fields as suggested above, click the SAVE SCHEDULED UNIT button.

If you want to add the just created COURSE_FEE-related Scheduled Unit record to a Student Course Enrolment, proceed to the Add Course Fees to a Course Enrolment Record workflow.
