# Error: Could not add unit information (write failure)

This error occurs when one of the fields entered in adding a new Base Unit record does not match with the system-specified field type.

## Resolution

One of the fields you entered is not in the correct format. Revise the fields and ensure the date fields are in the correct format, *see* [Add Base Units](/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/curriculum-management/workflows/manage-base-units/add-base-units.md) for the instructions on how to add a Base Unit record in the system and the [Base Units Record Type](/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/curriculum-management/record-types/base-units.md) page for the description of each field.

If you are adding the Base Unit record via[ Import Wizard](/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/importing-data/workflows/import-wizard.md) or [API Integration](/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/system-configuration/workflows/api-integration.md), make sure that the source file data fields imported have the same field type in Paradigm.
