# Edit Base Course Field Labels

This page will provide you with instructions on how to customise the field labels of your Base Course records in Paradigm to meet your naming convention.

You can open the Base Course screen page without loading a Base Course record by choosing the **Courses** > **Add New** menus. Alternatively, you can load a specific Base Course record, *see* [Search a Base Course record](/home/paradigm-knowledge-base/curriculum-management/workflows/manage-base-courses/search-a-base-course-record.md). 

To start customising the field labels, navigate to the field section you want to edit. 

1. Turn on the **Edit Labels** menu on the upper right-hand side of the page.
2. Click the information icon beside the field name you want to edit.
3.  Select the **EDIT LABEL** option.
4. In the **EDIT LABEL DETAILS** section, edit the **Short Text** field to your new field name. 
5. Click the **SAVE LABEL** button to save the changes.

Refresh the page where the field is located initially - it should now be changed to the new field label.
