Import Wizard

This page contains instructions on how to import data into Paradigm using the Import Wizard menu

Overview

The Import Wizard menu in Paradigm is a powerful tool that will help you import data or information saved or recorded in another file or application to Paradigm. This is very helpful in speeding up the process of data migration. Due to the complexity of this feature, we strongly advise that you seek advice from the Silverband Support Team prior to using this part of the system.

Importable Record Types

The following are the record types, data tables, or objects that you can bulk import using the Import Wizard menu of Paradigm:

Data Source File Requirements

Before you start following the workflows below, your data source file to be uploaded should meet the following general requirements and the additional requirements depending if it's a New Import or an Existing Import Profile:

  • The file must be in CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv) format

  • The data or information in the file must meet Paradigm's required format

Additional Requirements:

New Import Profile

  • The data on the file must contain the system-required fields. To check for system-required fields in Paradigm, you can refer to the Record Types section in our knowledge base, e.g. Student Record Type if importing student records in the system (fields with *).

  • One CSV file for each record type is recommended. Contact our Support Team if you have specific import requirements.

Existing Import Profile

  • All fields in the source file must be in the [exact] same order (correctly structured: headers are consistent or the same as the previously imported file) in any future import attempts

  • All fields in your source file must be present in any future import attempts

  • All column fields/headings must have a value (the same format as the previous successful import)

  • There shall be no deleting of the column headers present in the previously imported file and entering new information must follow the same format
