Add OSHC | OTHER FEE Unit Type
Overview
Other Unit types aside from "Course Fee" and "Tuition" allow you to charge additional course fee items on top of the total Course Fee Amount to a student's Course Enrolment record. Other Unit Types such as "OSHC_FEE", and "OTHER_FEE" can also be created as Unit Enrolments that can be made flexible when it comes to the study period dates.
NOTE:
Other Unit Types are not TCSI-reportable. To create one, you have to make sure that the Unit Provider field is not set to a TCSI-reporting Provider, see How to make a Provider Record non-TCSI reporting
Edit Unit Code Type
The Unit Code Type items can be edited via the System > Edit Code Items menus in Paradigm with the Code Type Id of UNIT_TYPE
. Make sure that the code items OSHC_FEE
and OTHER_FEE
are made visible, see Edit Code Items for the details of the instructions.
Workflow
Step (1) Create a Base Unit record
NOTE:
If the intention of the Base Unit is for OSHC_FEE, you can use the generic OSHC_FEE Unit Id as your Base Unit and just proceed to the next step to schedule the unit.
Create a Base Unit record, see Add Base Units. Refer to the following notable fields when creating a Base Unit with a Unit Type other than "Course Fee" and "Tuition":
Unit Provider - do not set a Provider record or set a Non-TCSI reporting provider record if you need to, see How to make a Provider Record non-TCSI reporting. If this is for an OSHC_FEE-related Base Unit record, set this to an OSHC Provider record, see Add New OSHC Provider Record
Credit Point Statement - you can set this to 0
Unit Type - set this to OTHER_FEE or OSHC_FEE - if this is an OSHC Provider-related unit
Unit Status - set this to Active
After filling out the required fields as suggested above, click the SAVE UNIT button.
Repeat the same steps for all the other units that you want to be categorised as Other Fee | OSHC type unit
Step (2) Schedule the Other Fee Type Units
After creating the Base Unit records of your Other Fee type units, you can now schedule them accordingly, see Add Scheduled Units. Refer to the following notable fields when scheduling a Course Fee unit:
Home Institution - you can leave this unset or set it to a Non-TCSI reporting provider record if you need to, see How to make a Provider Record non-TCSI reporting. If this is for an OSHC_FEE-related Scheduled Unit record, set this to an OSHC Provider record, see Add New OSHC Provider Record
Unit Status - set this to Active
Flexible Learning - set this to Yes
After filling out the Scheduled Unit fields as suggested above, click the SAVE SCHEDULED UNIT button.
If you want to add the just created OSHC_FEE-related Scheduled Unit record to a Student Course Enrolment, proceed to the Add OSHC to a Course Enrolment Record workflow.
