If you have configured your system to allow your students to enrol into scheduled units via the Course Plan of the Scheduled Course that you offered to the student, the Student Portal will enable the student to navigate to the Course Plan menu and enrol into the units youβve configured for them to study. This article contains a step-by-step guide on enrolling into units via the Student Portal Course Plan menu.
NOTE:
The workflow below assumed that the Course Outline of the Course where you allow students to enrol on units has already been set up and configured, see Manage Course Outlines.
Depending on how your Course Plan is designed - when a student wishes to enrol into units for their Course, they will be presented with a Course Plan page similar to this one, with all the allowable units that they can enrol (units with no colours, see the LEGEND section).
The student has the option to check the Session Times for each allowable scheduled unit that they can enrol in before they click the checkbox to proceed with enrolment in that unit.
After selecting all the units that they want to enrol in, they can click on the ENROL button to proceed. This will then display all the units selected, along with further options.
They can leave a message to the Student Services for each unit enrolment they create.
At this stage, the student will always have the option to go back and change the units by clicking on the CHANGE UNITS button.
For units with two or more available class sessions to choose from, the student can select their preferred class session by clicking on the SHOW TIMES button. The options that will appear here are from the Scheduled Sessions that you have created, see Manage Sessions.
With the SHOW TIMES button selected, the student can select their preferred class session by clicking the checkbox against the session class. Note that for session classes that are designed with predefined session combinations (e.g. Lecture + Workshop), see Session Group and Session Class, all the other class sessions will automatically be selected.
If no conflicts are found, the student will be presented with the TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENROLMENT and must indicate that they agree to those terms and conditions by placing a tick in each box, and then click the ENROL NOW button.
A page with all the details of the unit enrolments that the student has added will be displayed (see sample screenshot below).
Alternatively, you can watch a demo clip below on using the Course Plan:
Note that for units that have fixed sessions (no class sessions to choose from), they can proceed immediately by clicking the radio button against the unit session class.
After selecting the class session that they want for those units with predefined session combinations, the student can then click the radio buttons for all the units, and then click the CHECK CLASS TIMES button. This will check for session conflicts.
